About sno.cam

sno.cam collects scheduled still images from configured public or authorised camera sources and presents them with capture timestamps, date navigation and source attribution. Australian resorts may also include nearby weather observations. Continuous streams and 360-degree systems are identified separately from ordinary still cameras.

The archive currently covers Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Switzerland, France, the United States, Canada, Spain, Germany, Liechtenstein, Austria and Italy. Camera location notes identify the named terrain, building, lift corridor or outlook in each frame. Exact private mount points and compass bearings are not claimed when an operator has not published them.

• Unchanged images are detected and are not stored repeatedly.
• Stored records retain the capture time, image dimensions, content type and source attribution.
• Archive dates use each camera or resort's configured local time zone.
• Camera imagery is kept in object storage and its metadata is recorded separately in the archive database.

A displayed camera timestamp records when sno.cam captured or stored a frame. It may differ from the moment the camera operator produced the source image. A camera can also be delayed, stale, obscured, offline or incorrectly configured.

Weather is currently available only for Australian resorts. It is matched to a frame using the nearest stored WillyWeather station observation. Dew point comes from the primary station; pressure and cloud may come from a named, distance-labelled nearby station when the primary station does not publish that metric. Station-observed, provider-issued and archive-receipt times remain distinct.

Some earlier dates retain the nearest surviving hourly Open-Meteo cache value. Those records end at the provider cutover and are labelled as legacy cached weather rather than station observations. Official resort snow-depth reports are stored separately when a public value is available.

Field guides are maintained as original editorial pages rather than generated keyword or date variations. A factual camera note describes the named terrain, building or outlook visible in the frame. Source links appear with the camera atlas wherever a suitable public source is available.

Search indexing includes canonical country, region, resort, camera and archive overview pages that contain active reviewed data, plus original guides and public trust pages. Filter states, unavailable cameras, empty archive dates, internal tools and API responses remain outside the sitemap or index.

Webcam images, resort names, source material and weather observations remain subject to the rights and terms of their respective owners. Public availability is not treated as automatic permission for commercial reuse. Advertising remains blocked until the site's consent and content-rights release gates are satisfied.

The archive is a historical and visual reference, not an official source for roads, lift operations, avalanche conditions, weather warnings or emergencies. The complete notices are in the legal and takedown policy. Factual corrections and removal requests can be sent through the contact page.
